Asia Triennial Manchester is a festival of visual culture that not only celebrates Manchester’s diverse communities but also explores cultural, artistic and political debates of the 21st century.
The international programme features venue-based exhibitions, site-specific new commissions, residencies and publicly sited work by artists from Mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan.
Asia Triennial Manchester is initiated and led by Shisha. Established in 2001 and based in Manchester, Shisha acts as a cultural organisation, supporting artists’ development, building audiences and strengthening the infrastructure for disseminating the work of South Asian contemporary artists.
Shisha organises exhibitions, residencies, and education and audience development projects; produces publications; delivers CPD for artists and curators; and provides networking and consultancy services.
