Where You Can Share Your Artwork Online

Getting your artwork online by uploading it to ArtMarketDirect.com is a great way to create a checkout facility for your family, friends, contacts and collectors to use to buy your artwork. With our flat-rate 3% commission we know that we are better value than many industry leading online galleries and marketplaces.

We are so confident that we have the fairest deal online, we have provided a list of our peers and equals below.  That way you can compare what’s there and do what’s right for you to create the right ‘marketing mix’ to sell your artwork.

At the ArtMarketDirect Basecamp. we often talk about how we are not interested in competing.  Instead we talk about how the global market is big enough for everyone and we hope everyone succeeds.

After your work is uploaded the question is “who knows it’s there?”

Putting your work on any online site is not the be all and end all. To get it to sell you need to be proactive in sharing the URL’s to individual pieces and your main gallery.

Below is a compilation of sites and groups which we know about where you can share your work with others who can like, share or even buy it.

In all cases where the groups are on Facebook we recommend you read the ‘About’ section to familiarize yourself with the rules of each including how many posts per 24 hours, whether you can include links etc.

Being included on this page does not signify endorsement, this is simply a factual resource for our members to use.

NOTE: If you decide to post in multiple sales groups, do remember to delete your posts or change the setting to ‘sold’ when a piece sells or else it could get complicated.

We try to keep this list up to date but occasionally something will go wrong. If you are aware of another relevant site or group which should be on the list or if a link we share goes dead or needs updating, please email admin@artmarketdirect.com

Get Your Own Website/Blog

Blogs are easy to create and most often are free to set up or if you want a specific domain might cost you a few pounds per year.

You are then able to share URL’s from of individual pieces and your main ArtMarketDirect.com gallery.

Pinterest

Start pinning your own artwork to a “My artwork” board. Make sure you pin the images from your ArtMarketDirect.com gallery and website (rather than just uploading them from your computer) so that there will be a link back to your site when people click on the images.

That is just the start of it.  You can create multiple boards for a variety of topics you’re interested in, and do plenty of pinning and repinning.

If you pin some great content, more people will follow you, and that means every time you pin one of your own images, those followers will see it in their home feed, and just might follow the link back to your ArtMarketDirect.com gallery or your own website, or repin your image for their followers to see.

Paint My Photo

Paint My Photo great online community for photographers and artists, where you can find reference photos to paint from, without having to worry about any copyright issues.

An extra benefit though, is that if you upload your paintings to the site, and link from your painting to the reference, and vice versa (via a comment on the photo), it’s a great way to introduce more artists and photographers to your work.

Every time you upload a painting to Paint My Photo, you will get a stream of comments complimenting your work.  Iif you include a link to your ArtMarketDirect.com gallery or your website in the image description, many potential collectors will check out the rest of your portfolio, and sign up to your mailing list.

Instagram

Instagram is the ideal social media platform for artists to share their content from their ArtMarketDirect.com gallery, because it revolves entirely around images.

You can use it to share your completed paintings of course, but it’s also great for sharing works in progress, collages of your painting process, and even short (15 seconds) videos, giving a snapshot of your life as an artist.

You can’t place a link in an Instagram post, but make sure you place a link to your website in your bio text, and when you post, encourage people to click that link. For example you might post a 15 second video, and then say “click the link in my bio to see the full video,” and post the full length video on your blog.

Make sure you use #hashtags to describe your posts, as this is the main way people will find you (there is no equivalent of the ‘retweet’ in Instagram), and as with all social media, if you interact with people, they are much more likely to follow you, so look for posts related to yours and leave them a nice comment.
