Roundism – 06-02-18 (sold) Recently I saw a picture of a model passing by posing a great triangular shape. I used this principle and my own model (with a bob hair cut) to make a cubistic composition out of triangles, circles and rectangulars, complemented with a harmonized balance of light and darker planes, creating rhythym and diction. Hand Carved out of a single piece of stone, this one of a kind work of art is created by artist Roland Hagendorff on Drummond Island in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The stone selected for this piece was found locally on the shores of Lake Huron. Just like the unique rocks used to carve these pieces each of these works of art can never be duplicated.

Roundism – 10-03-18 The challenge was to create maximum flow but still maintain a recognizable female figure. Therefore I wanted no section crossing another in order to create a feel of weightlessness. I beefed up the tonality a little bit in order to get some more figuration and to avoid that the overall drawing would appear to be shallow. The bubbles and fingers were added in order to relate the spectator to the image and still be able to enjoy abstract body forms. Sans titre – 30-07-18 I was captured by the high lights at the top and the bottom and decided to keep the planes straight, putting the stress on the rough edged character of the figure. I also didn’t straighten out much of the lines and planes for that reason, keeping it a kind of worked out sketch rather than to refine and soften it too much.
