The little house on top of the cliff, with the light in the window, is how in the olden days the sailors and fishermen would be guided a safe journey and welcome home by their wives and widows from the treacherous seas around the Jurassic coast of Dorset. I was inspired with this new genre of painting by the wonderful 'cragginess' of the Jurassic coastline close to where I live in Dorset and where I find the inspiration for my Seascapes. Like the Seascapes, for which I am well known locally, the light is perfect for painters.
