Out of stockSpirit of May is 40x40x1.5 inches art nouveau contemporary landscape painting of a white spectral deer in a wildflower meadow. The painting was made after a walk near Wadhurst in Sussex and shows a very colourful array of wildflowers in an abstract, art nouveau, expressionist style. It shows a path view through a meadow in May leading towards hazy summer trees in the background. A transparent white deer stands in the foreground blending into his landscape as deer tend to do in real life. The intention I had on painting this landscape was to capture my impression of a beautiful area of Sussex and a beautiful season. I am always thrilled by the sights and scents of England in May and I try to share these moments in my paintings. Although this has many colours in it, the painting is still mostly green with overlapping veils and colours that hint of how fleeting the month of May is. It is painted on wide edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang, no frame needed.
