I caught these lovely Hollyhocks in an English summer garden by chance and got back to the studio to create this oil painting on wood panel. I felt it worthy of a nice moulding so I framed it in 'distressed' gold on wood and it is now ready to hang. -
Lilacs are a special blossom, with integrity, for they are honest with their beauty. I love their colour, their form and, of course, their perfume. I painted them in Andalucia Spain very recently and to do them full justice they are framed in a museum quality moulding, as shown in the frame detail. GIGGER'S ISLAND, Poole Bay in Dorset. This island is one of a number of small islands in this beautiful part of the English southern coastline in Dorset. Once a valley, this island and a small number of others, are all that have emerged since the ice age. Gigger's is predominantly a wild bird sanctuary and gulls flock there in their hundreds, hunting and breeding in peace. Painted in mixed media for the rocks, and smooth brush work for the sky, sea and the birds themselves, to create a 3D type of effect adding depth to the piece with movement and vibrancy - on quality fine linen. Painted in oils and mixed media on a quality fine French linen fabric, hand stretched and using the best quality oil paints.
