GIGGER'S ISLAND, Poole Bay in Dorset. This island is one of a number of small islands in this beautiful part of the English southern coastline in Dorset. Once a valley, this island and a small number of others, are all that have emerged since the ice age. Gigger's is predominantly a wild bird sanctuary and gulls flock there in their hundreds, hunting and breeding in peace. Painted in mixed media for the rocks, and smooth brush work for the sky, sea and the birds themselves, to create a 3D type of effect adding depth to the piece with movement and vibrancy - on quality fine linen. Painted in oils and mixed media on a quality fine French linen fabric, hand stretched and using the best quality oil paints.

Glass paneled sculpture with rusting metal, reflecting the cityscape. A telephoto lens picked this image up, which was not appreciated with the naked eye. I found the distorted image an interesting one to paint. This was the beginning of my reflection series of paintings. I call this my Architectural Reflection Series. $2700 plus shipping 40 w x 30 h inches

Out of stockBetween Worlds is 48x48x1.5 inches art nouveau style large oil painting of a stag and three deer in a Sussex bluebell wood with a lake and trees behind. This painting was inspired by walking through a lot of spring woods and spotting a lot of deer in them - especially during April and May in England. It is called between the worlds as the deer sometimes seem to me to stand between the physical and the material worlds. A group of white deer and a stag stand to the left in a woodland glade blinking in and out of existence. The colours match bluebells and other woodland flowers and the trees are bright green as they are in springtime. To the right there is a lake in the clearing and the hint of another path through the forest beyond. The idea I was trying to capture is the elusive nature of deer and of bluebell season. One minute deer are there watching you, the next they flash their white behind's at you and disappear. I love to see the seasons reflected in English woodland and like to capture a glimpse of April in particular. This is a very large canvas and does not need a frame. The edges are white and it is ready to hang.

Bluebell symphony is very large original oil painting on canvas (48x48 inches) of a Spring woodland painted in a semi abstract, impressionist style. As it is a large painting, it gives the viewer the feeling that they can walk into this golden Spring wood with its bluebells and wildflowers and green trees and follow the sunlight path out to the fields beyond. A glowing yellow stag can be seen near the path looking at us imperiously as stags do. He is a guide to somewhere wonderful but is assessing our intentions before he leads us forward. In the foreground to the left is a large tree which sets the perspective for the rest of the painting. The bluebell flowers and leaves are painted in a semi abstract style which by their colours and positions hint at what they are but in an ambiguous way. This is because when I painted this it was from memory and I remember impressions and colours and motions but not details. I like it this way as it gives a transient feel which is what I wanted to capture here as that is what bluebell season is. For many people it is their favourite season (including mine) and I am happy to have painted a place where I can escape to a Spring woodland among the trees and flowers whenever I have had enough of an English winter... It is 1.5 inches think, edges white, frame not necessary, ready to hang.
